Statement from Bill de Blasio Regarding Broadway Triangle

December 20th, 2009

"I'd like to address the Broadway Triangle proposal before us today. There have been decades of painful and divisive history in the area around this parcel of land. And very serious concerns have been raised about the process that led to this proposal. But, I’m convinced thisvcan be a worthwhile project because it is based on a realistic proposal that can provide a substantial amount of affordable housing soon. And it will only prove to be worthwhile if it is done right."

Statement from Bill de Blasio Regarding the Tenant Evacuation of an Unstable Chinatown Building

August 6th, 2009

"We cannot let irresponsible landlords get away with extreme negligence that puts tenants out on the street.  Several weeks ago I proposed creating an online Slumlord Watch List to shine a light on New York City's worst landlords and organize tenants to fight for their rights.  As Public Advocate, I will hold any landlord accountable who ignores a tenant's right to a sanitary and safe apartment."
