De Blasio: Con Ed Lockout Costing New Yorkers

De Blasio sent a letter today to Con Ed President Kevin Burke announcing the investigation. De Blasio said his office previously raised questions on the impact of the lockout of employees over labor disputes between the company and unions, but Con Ed dismissed the concerns. The letter comes in addition to an already planned NY Assembly public hearing to discuss the lockout.

"I reiterate my concern that these service reductions have a particularly acute impact on low-income residents who have may limited resources to shoulder spikes in their estimated bills," the letter read. "The closure of walk-in centers only further aggravates this problem, as people have few options to seek resolution on complaints with their estimated bills."
